Who can Participate?
Regardless of the city you live in, we're inviting both males and females to participate. All you need is a love of facial hair and some motivation.
What should I do?
You don't need to move to Pittsburgh to participate; if you email us back, we can send you the proper forms to collect donations. If you can't grow a mustache, support those that can. Do something positive in your community. Better yet, if you can collect a couple of bucks from some friends, it will help us reach our goal for Make-A-Wish. WHY?
Together, we're going to take the mustache to new heights. And secretly, you know they look great. SEE YOU THERE! Mustache Gallery
One of the main goals of this site is to build a large database of mustaches so that people can come here to get inspired and to get pumped about upcoming growing events. In order for the mustache gallery to be the success that we want it to be, we will need your help. All you need to do is register an account, log-in and go to the gallery itself. Once in the gallery you'll see something that says "user panel" which will allow you to contribute photos. We are looking for celebrity mustaches, great mustaches in history and examples of fine mustaches from your friends and family. The sky is the limit. If you have any further questions, hit us up at

and we'll be glad to help. Female ParticipationIn introducing the concept of Mustache March & Mustache awareness, we are often asked by females if they can participate in the festivities. While we must admit that we do not get excited about the idea of females growing mustaches, we at mustachepgh feel that females are a pivotal part of the success of any stache related event as well as the survival of the mustache as a fashion choice in general.
Any man who has ever tried to grow a mustache will tell you that female disapproval is one of the biggest hurdles a stache grower must overcome during his journey. We've heard horror stories that certain wives and girlfriends have gone as far as not speaking to their significant other unless they shaved off their stache.
While we understand that the mustache is not the most attractive thing to most girls, we need them to understand that this kind of undertaking extends itself far beyond the superficialities of fashion... the month of March is a spiritual event where men seek to find their true inner selves.
If you think that this is all hogwash, allow me to point you to Brad Pitt as an example. One might look at Brad Pitt and say he has everything: tons of money, fast cars, good looks and best of all... Angelina Jolie. So why would Brad risk throwing it all away by recently growing a mustache? Is it possible that there was something missing in Brad's life? Brad needed to grow a stache to find out who the real Brad Pitt is and Angelina staying by his side through the process and showing her support is why Brad's mustache growing journey has been such a success. Every good man needs a good woman.
So the next time you see a man with a mustache, set aside your impulse to criticize it and do him a favor and compliment him for his efforts. You get extra bonus points if you tell him that he looks great and that he should keep with it. That compliment could be the difference between him continuing on his journey or shaving it off when he finds himself in a moment of weakness.
More details will soon follow with how you all can help in the upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. In the meantime, we thank you all for your cooperation and we promise to notice the next time you get your hair done. Mustache Styles
The certified mustacheologists at the American Mustache Institute are often asked, "What is the best mustache style?" or "What constitutes a bad mustache?" The challenge is that there is no true best mustache style and there is certainly no such thing as a bad mustache, as they are all God’s creatures and thus loved by all within the mustache community. There are simply many delicious and luxurious mustache options including such luminaries as the General Lee, the Fu Man Chu, the Dictator, the Hollywood, the Hero, the Square, the Bruiser, the Weasel, the Sheriff, or the Fireman. Below, thanks to the AMI's friends at Hudson's FTM Resource Guide you can find just a few of the styles. But it is important to note that the greatness of a mustache is that a new style can be created each day by any mustached man... and sometimes a woman. Because as the AMI often notes, "A mustache is a terrible thing to waste." Source: American Mustache Institute |
